Birding, Laughter, Friendship in Arizona

I spent a busy, adventure-filled few days with friends Joanna and Peter enjoying their home in Green Valley, AZ at the beginning of May. Words cannot describe the laughter, magnificent sightseeing, deep and silly conversations, etc. that we shared. AND I saw a total of 17 birds that were new to me.

My morning coffee view

Joanna, Peter, and ME

acorn woodpeckers

finches, the moon from Joanna and Peter's backyard, a lizard, and a mole stealing birdseed

bronzed cowbird, brown-headed cowbird, white-breasted nuthatch,
and some free range cattle seen on the way— in Madera Canyon, AZ.

Gilded Flicker

barn swallows

This is a Phainopepla (which I'd never even heard of before)

a hooded oriole landed in Joanna & Peter's backyard

Loved watching the finches play tic-tac-toe on this feeder

Black-headed grosbeak, a tanager (maybe Hepatic Tanager), Mexican Jay,
and White-winged dove (check out the bare blue skin that surrounds the orange-red eye)

Black-chinned and Broad-billed hummingbirds (I love where the one is feeding the other)!

This cactus wren sang beautiful songs to me from
Joanna & Peter's yard every morning!

Gambel's Quail

Curve-billed Thrashers

Needless to say I can't wait to go back!!!!!
