Tuesday, 2/8 back to Airlie Gardens with new friend Cindy. Lots of ducks, including these ring-necked ducks....

Tuesday night I went to the Cape Fear Museum and tried to learn something about early photography.

Thursday was a cold, rainy day.... Dave had a delayed opening because of threat of sleet... when it cleared a bit I headed back to Airlie and found these American coots....

Went out to dinner Thursday night with my favorite date partners (John, Jess, Dave).... and Friday night entertained some friends before we headed to Indochine for another dinner out....

Went out to dinner Thursday night with my favorite date partners (John, Jess, Dave).... and Friday night entertained some friends before we headed to Indochine for another dinner out....Then Saturday morning I went for a 10 mile hike with a group called the Wilmington Health Nuts.... I didn't plan on finishing the whole hike but the company was great and there were no hills!
We hiked along part of a beautiful place called Lake Waccamaw.....
Saturday night I went to the Cape Fear Playhouse and saw Love Letters.... it is a play with no scenery and two people reading from a script... and yet I was mesmerized by the story of their 50 year relationship starting in 2nd grade... all told through their letters to each other..... it was fantastic!~
We hiked along part of a beautiful place called Lake Waccamaw.....
Saturday night I went to the Cape Fear Playhouse and saw Love Letters.... it is a play with no scenery and two people reading from a script... and yet I was mesmerized by the story of their 50 year relationship starting in 2nd grade... all told through their letters to each other..... it was fantastic!~On Sunday John came over and put together my new deck furniture. I also found a new way to use my convertible when I had to figure out how to get rid of the boxes!
I have been spending a lot of time sitting on the deck as the weather has been in the 60s!
Looking forward to a full moon later this week!

Today I went to Old Brunswick Town with the Cape Fear Audubon Society. This is St. Philip's Church built in 1741. John and Jess's friend Jenny is getting married here in September!
Saw my first yellow-bellied sapsucker....
and a fox squirrel.....
We then went over to Orton Pond.....
A very industrious group.....
New fact I learned.... the longleaf pine which is native to this area takes 100 to 150 years to become full size and may live to 500 years old. When young, they look like the small "bushes" in the front of this picture and take 7-10 years to look like small trees.
And tonight I am going downtown to attend an event with the Cape Fear Camera Club. The local Encore Magazine has a contest every year to see who is the Best of Wilmington. The voting is over & its time for the big party to announce the winners.The local who's who in Wilmington will be there to accept their awards for everything from best local bar, news cast, car wash, tattoo parlor, etc! Should prove interesting.
